A Walk Through History
History buffs shouldn't miss Horseshoe Bend National Military Park, a 2,040-acre site commemorating the 1814 battle between U.S. forces and the Creek Nation. The park features a three-mile nature trail and a road tour with historic markers. For a look at more recent history, the Wellborn Musclecar Museum in Alexander City houses one of the nation’s largest collections of 1960s and 70s American muscle cars, including an extensive Dodge Charger collection.
Signature Summer Events
The Alexander City Jazz Festival is a local legend, now celebrating its 35th year. This free, two-night event kicks off at Strand Park in downtown Alexander City before moving to the Lake Martin Amphitheater (The AMP) for a Saturday night under the stars. Another summer highlight is the Lake Martin Songwriters Festival, which brings over 40 nationally recognized songwriters to various local venues.
Iconic Landmarks
Be sure to visit Children’s Harbor, famous for its Plymouth Lighthouse replica and the historic Hank Williams Cabin, where the country legend was inspired to write his famous song "Kowaliga".
Attending the Jazz Festival or a concert at The AMP? Lake Martin Lift offers safe, professional group transit so you can focus on the music and the memories.
